So what exactly is S.T.E.P.?
Your ticket to a highly rewarding and invaluable learning experience! Compass Group offers dedicated students an opportunity to fulfill their internship requirements, further their understanding of the foodservice industry, and enjoy the kind of practical hands-on learning experiences critical to their future success. S.T.E.P stands for Student Training & Educational Partnership. It is an experiential learning program for students, like you, who are serious about building their resumes and experiences. For 11-15 weeks, you’ll gain practical, hands-on training in a real Compass Group account where you’ll learn foodservice operations and production, inventory control, purchasing, on-site marketing, catering and retail. In addition, you will play a role in helping us achieve our daily customer & client satisfaction goals. Our program pays an hourly wage and for those who are superior performers, this program can lead to full-time employment and enrollment into one of our sector Manager-In-Training Programs. No other company offers the variety of positions, range of opportunities, or flexibility in hours and workdays for those in the field.

Who Qualifies?
Students who major in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a Foodservice Management related field; possess a cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; have a demonstrated desire to learn and excel in foodservice; and require an internship, externship, co-op or practicum prior to graduation. No matter which Compass line of business, you will be placed in a prestigious Compass Group account such as a corporate dining, healthcare or campus dining “Center for Excellence.” Each center offers a unique learning experience, and best of all, you can intern in one division yet apply for full time employment in another.

Aside from our National S.T.E.P program Compass Group is seeking students for exciting short term assignments during the summer months for the following professional sporting events:

• PGA Golf Tournaments
• USTA Tennis Tournaments
• NTRA Horse Racing
