1999 Third shift floor technician
2006 Supervisor
2007 Operations Manager
I've been with Compass Group for 12 years.
I started at Baptist Northeast Hospital in La Grange, KY as a floor technician. I was looking for a third shift job. My daughter was a baby and we didn't want to put her in daycare. It was tough, but I really wanted to be there for my family.
In 2006, Bob Hart offered me a supervisory position at Baptist East Hospital. They were looking for someone with floor tech skills to join the team and Bob had noticed my work. The timing was perfect. My daughter was now old enough to be in school and I was ready for new challenges.
The transition was a big adjustment, but it really enriched me. I went from working alone to a large team environment of 10-20 people at any given time. I had to learn to work with a diverse group of people.
Whenever I needed encouragement, Bob was there to help me see things from a different perspective. After one year, I started to feel confident in my new role and was asked to become a Foundations trainer. Baptist East Hospital is a Foundations account, meaning that it is a training center for new Crothall associates.
Drawing upon the lessons I've learned, I always tell my students, "We can't do it all ourselves. Team work and accountability are keys to success."
