Diversity Action Councils

Compass Group Diversity Action Councils champion and implement our diversity and inclusion strategy across the organization. Their efforts are vital in helping us sustain our competitive advantage.

North American Diversity Action Council
The North American Diversity Action Council coordinates the efforts of each sector council to ensure the consistent implementation of our diversity and inclusion strategy across the organization. The council also serves as the liaison between the sector councils and advisors to the senior leaders of Compass Group North America.

Sector Diversity Action Councils
It’s no accident that the word “action” is part of the councils’ names. Made up of diverse, passionate associates, these councils champion diversity in each of our business sectors by:
    • Building ongoing awareness of diversity and inclusion
    • Identifying solutions to foster a more inclusive workplace
    • Communicating diversity and inclusion best practices
    • Serving as advisors to the sector leaders on diversity and
       inclusion issues

Diversity Training

To help our associates understand the value of diversity and inclusion, we offer several training programs.

These programs create a more inclusive, respectful and productive workplace and build a culture that is shaped by each associates' unique contributions. From the beginning of their career at Compass Group, all associates learn about the different dimensions of diversity in order to raise awareness and to help foster a positive work environment.

Associate Programs

Compass Group associates celebrate diversity and inclusion, participate in learning activities and recognize outstanding contributions.

Diversity Week
Compass Group associates come together for Diversity Week. This is a time when we stop and value how our differences and similarities make us altogether great.

President's Five Jewel Award
Outstanding teams and units are recognized as sector winners for their passion for diversity and inclusion, community service and professional development, and are then eligible to compete for recognition at the national level.

Resource Network

Working with Resource Network (the recruitment department of Compass Group USA), our diversity and inclusion team has created a multipronged approach to recruitment and attracts candidates with varied experiences, skills and backgrounds.

College and University Partnerships
Our long-standing program with Johnson & Wales—A Partnership for Scholarship—connects students, graduates and alumni to Compass Group opportunities. Compass Group also has solid relationships with historically black colleges.

Professional Organizations
Throughout the year, Compass Group attends events organized by minority professional and industry organizations, including BCA (formerly Black Culinary Alliance), Multicultural Foodservice and Hospitality Alliance and the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality.
